The 100 Greatest Movies of the 21st Century

by Esoos on June 8, 2009

The trouble with most “Greatest Movies” lists is that they have to include boring old stuff from the 50’s that nobody actually wants to watch anymore.

Sure, there’s still a few good old flicks, but if I’m going to be renting a movie for the night I want something a bit more recent. With that in mind, I present the 100 greatest movies since the year 2000 (feel free to add your own picks in the comments):

15 Rose September 22, 2009 at 7:20 am

I was wondering is this thing like personally opinions or an autual proffosional
Because I think that the two movies Dumber and Dumber (with Jim Carrey, forgot what the other guys name was, but whatever) and, without a paddle (with the guy from the scooby doo, but it is a real life one non animated!!)
thanks
hope that you watch and then put them on, they are the funniest movies alive, I have cried laughing so hard from without a paddle!!!
thanks again

19 Ken September 30, 2009 at 1:49 pm

Twilght was a TERRIBLE movie. It DOES NOT belong on that list, and it shall stay off, because the acting in it was atrocious and an orangatan would have done a better job as Bella than Kristin Stewart did.

20 Dan October 8, 2009 at 9:49 am

Batman Begins or The Dark Knight?

21 shawn October 8, 2009 at 12:31 pm

Left off this list, because it was garbage.

Twilight is nowhere. Because it sucks.

24 Victoria October 13, 2009 at 2:49 pm

Yeah where is Twilight? lol well I really loved Slumdog millionaire. I also loved the pianist. I recommend the movie the Painted Veil. I think it is one of the saddest movies ever to watch. I cry every time I watch it and the Lion King. ok that is it.

25 Dennis October 15, 2009 at 3:49 am

THE DARK KNIGHT!??
Top movie of 2008 AND 2009..

31 Tristan October 31, 2009 at 10:16 am

I love how everyone who has left a comment asking for an awful movie has used simply atrocious spelling.. It just goes to show that small children and high school bimbo cheerleaders <3 twilight. Except for Victoria /thumbsup. My personal favorite is and always will be (probably?) Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and it IS in fact on the list so i recommend that anyone reading these comments that actually wants to watch a decent movie.. Look it up on surfthechannel.com

32 Calvin November 2, 2009 at 6:01 pm

38 kiki November 10, 2009 at 3:30 am

TWILIGHTS GREAT :D

39 B-rad November 12, 2009 at 10:41 pm

Not a bad list, but……you could probably revise it and take off ones like Brokeback mountain, Sweeney Todd, Finding Neverland, 28 Weeks Later, United 93……..and then watch ones like Lucky Number Slevin, Running Scared, Anchorman, Gladiator, Tropic Thunder, The Dark Knight, Transformers, Fightclub, The Illusionist, Year One, Crash, and Gangs of New York. Just a suggestion..

40 Dija November 13, 2009 at 11:16 am

I second that, the notebook ranks up there. V for Vendetta was good. On the note of animation although its really old, Anastasia is real good, what about Cars I didn’t see that.

41 ... November 13, 2009 at 6:08 pm

twilight, harry potter, pirates 2 and 3 you’ve got to be kidding they are some of the worst movies around, so generic. The Shawshank Redemption is one that was left out that should be there. btw twilight is one of the worst movies around.

42 Alexa November 15, 2009 at 1:28 am

how about The Day after Tomorrow or Independence Day or I am legend or 2012 or TRANSFORMERS or Apollo 13 or The day the earth stood still.

Just a few for you to consider
Good work making the list!!

43 Zam November 17, 2009 at 12:26 pm

Dark Knight or Wedding Crashers……. WTF!?!

44 Erick November 21, 2009 at 7:45 pm

Pathfinder
Apocalypto
Death at a funeral
Joe Dirt

45 Pat Rutledge November 23, 2009 at 2:48 pm

You people are retarded. This is his opinion, not yours. Why the hell are you suggesting movies that he may have never even have seen? Why should he add them if he doesn’t agree with them?

46 Yoki November 28, 2009 at 5:46 pm

Twilight sucks and should not be on this list

47 scarlett November 29, 2009 at 8:13 am

twilight was so bad, i was so disappointed because i loved the books, although the more i read them the more i realise there not all that (and i’m 12). Good List though.

48 your mother November 29, 2009 at 10:11 pm

Twilight is not on here because it sucks.

“Oh Edward so hott” Really. This is why you watch a movie. I don’t think you can swear in this forum or I totally would.

49 Jim December 1, 2009 at 2:07 am

Twilight is overrated, just a lot of screaming teenagers and desperate middle age mums have nothing better to do that rant about it.
The Dark Knight should be in there for sure, fantastic film. What about Crash? Does anyone think Ladder 49 deserves to be in there?

50 Mark December 1, 2009 at 3:44 pm

Wedding Crashers, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan, Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Minority Report, Casino Royale, Bad Santa, Jarhead, Gan gs of New York, Knocked Up, Anchorman, and V for Vendetta also could have also been canidates
